Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the education/ experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience Statement: To qualify for the GS-12 grade level, applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: independently developing and executing strategic communication plans; serving as a media spokesperson to coordinate responses to complex public and news media inquiries; writing, editing, and publishing diverse informational materials (e.g., news releases, speeches, talking points) for various audiences; and advising senior leaders and subject matter experts on public relations strategies, probable public reactions, and stakeholder engagement.
