You qualify at the GS-09 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: participating in developing concepts, preparing designs, writing specifications, and producing biomedical research graphics, signage, and visual communication products; preparing biomedical research support art files using Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications for production; operating and troubleshooting imaging software and production equipment, including large-format printers, high-resolution photo printers, digital printers, laminators, mounting equipment, and paper cutters; and producing and assembling finished products such as scientific posters, brochures, booklets, framed scientific imagery, certificates, photography, conference materials, binders, name badges, and meeting signage. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., with major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. You qualify at the GS-11 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: independently designing and producing visual communication products for biomedical research publications, exhibits, presentations, and outreach materials using Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications; managing digital production workflows and resolving complex issues involving imaging software, large-format printers, high-resolution photo printers, digital production equipment, laminators, mounting equipment, and related finishing devices to ensure high-quality production standards; planning and developing original visual communication strategies and graphic design concepts that effectively communicate biomedical research information to scientific and non-scientific audiences; and serving as a technical consultant recommending the most effective design approaches, production methods, formats, media, and visual communication solutions to meet project objectives. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning, designing, and managing complex visual communication projects supporting biomedical research; developing original graphic designs and visual communication products using Adobe Creative Suite; managing digital production workflows, quality control, and troubleshooting imaging software and production equipment; providing technical guidance to scientists, researchers, program officials, and leadership on visual communication strategies and production methods; and leading multiple projects to ensure timely completion of high-quality products.
