Education Requirement In order to qualify for a Psychologist, GS-0180 position, you must have successfully completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major or equivalent in psychology. Additional Requirements must be met for each grade level. To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have: A. completed three years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, or have completed the requirements for a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in psychology; OR B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of task: serving as a psychologist and assisting with the execution of research and tests; selecting an appropriate combination of standard objective tests, administering and scoring the tests and interpreting them; comparing results with those obtained from previous psychology studies to verify validity; reviewing candidates for psychological studies; and discussing psychology results with staff; OR C. a combination of post baccalaureate education in psychology and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: serving as a psychologist and independently performing psychology research and tests; determining the time and resources required for a psychology project and establishing plans and schedules; critically analyzing results of procedures to determine accuracy of data; and discussing psychology projects with internal and external stakeholders. To quality at the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: serving as a psychologist with full professional responsibility for research findings, interpretations, decisions, and reports; providing recommendations regarding the development or improvement of psychology programs; designing and evaluating psychology research studies; and presenting scientific information to both scientific and non-scientific personnel.
