Specialized Experience: For the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-12. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience includes: 1) Advising managers on human resources laws, regulation, policies, and procedures; 2) provides guidance on recruitment methods and staffing strategies; 3) delivers technical advisory services on staffing, classification, and employee relations matters. For the GS-14: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-13. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience includes: 1) Independently advising on and developing staffing solutions and recruitment strategies in accordance with HR laws and regulations; 2) Providing guidance and recommendations on complex performance and conduct issues; 3) Clearly communicating technical HR information, both verbally and in writing, to customers; 4) Using automated technology and data management tools to research, analyze, interpret, and present HR information. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
