For GS-12: Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples of such experience may include: planning, directing, and coordinating the collection, computation, analysis, and quality assurance of water-resource data from a network of hydrologic monitoring stations; providing technical leadership and guidance to staff on hydrologic data-collection methods, data review procedures, and interpretation of complex hydrologic conditions; evaluating stage-discharge relations, validating and analyzing hydrologic records, resolving data anomalies, and ensuring compliance with established technical standards; collecting and analyzing data required to compute flood flows using methods such as slope-area measurements, flow over dams, flow through culverts, and flow over embankments; and supporting hydrologic investigations and studies involving streamflow, floods, droughts, and other water-resource issues while ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and availability of hydrologic information.
