Basic Requirements: All applicants MUST: Meet the minimum education requirements of successful completion of a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) with a professional law degree (J.D.); AND Must be a current, active member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: GS-15 Qualifications: One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-14 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments: Specialized in-house counsel experience focused on legal compliance or the enforcement of state or federal law and regulations. Subject matter expert and experience advising senior leaders and executives on legal compliance strategies pertaining legal compliance with a federal statute, e.g., The Federal Grant and Cooperative Agreement Act, The Administrative Procedure Act, etc.. Experience providing legal advice and developing legal strategies, opinions, and guidance on legal issues. GS-14 Qualifications: One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-13 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments: Advanced experience in legal compliance with state or federal laws and regulations. Advanced experience with serving as a subject matter expert in interpretation and/or implementation of a federal statute, e.g., The Federal Grant and Cooperative Agreement Act, The Administrative Procedures Act, etc. Experience providing legal advice and developing legal strategies, opinions, and guidance on legal issues to clients and executives. GS-13 Qualifications: One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-12 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments: Experience with legal compliance or the enforcement of state or federal laws, regulations. Experience with serving as a technical authority or subject matter expert in administrative law, or some other comparatively complex body of law. Experience providing legal advice and developing legal strategies, opinions, and guidance on legal issues. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
