To be eligible for consideration, you must first meet the Basic Requirements for this position: A. Undergraduate or Graduate Education with a major study in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management or other fields related to the position to be filled. Other education consists of Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that include advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-to-month basis. -OR- B. Specialized Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must meet the Specialized Experience Requirement below - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-12 level in federal service having demonstrated experience developing Radio over IP (RoIP); establishing and maintaining a radio network; advising on the planning, development, utilization, and modification of communications equipment; evaluating base stations and repeaters, analyzing system design, operation, and maintenance requirements; and experience monitoring a budget for a program or project. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
